AS BROTHERS
Have you ever traced a silent war
across the length of your life?
Have you ever known an enemy
so frank with shattered music
you begin to love him on the sidewalk
in front of your house, searching the sky
as brothers, until it’s impossible,
your eyes granite, your voice
a forged and faded signature, until one of you,
not knowing what else,
presses the gas & drives away?
